relief torso by gecko-online relief torso by gecko-online
relief of a female torso,
made from claro walnut from Oregon, USA.
I was amazed by the dark color of the wood, which is the darkest walnut on our planet.
This piece has a wonderful grain and some curls in the correct places!

As a tree lover, you have honoured this piece of wood wonderfully. You have created rather than destroyed, and what a beautiful creation. The subtlety of this delicate reproduction of a very natural sensual and erotic female torso, while being sensitive to the woods natural lines, is a symmetry of intelligent and artistic delight. You bring many things to your work Michael, all of them wonderful to behold.

Thanks, Liam, for your wonderful words. Lovely. I feel honored in my attempt to align the artistic shape in my mind with the material I am using or vice-versa. At the end both elements shall become one piece of art. In this piece it did work well.
Stay well and have a wonderful Christmas time. ;-)

Hi again and thanks!
this piece I bought in ebay in the US and they sent it to me. Other pieces I bring from my trips. As working in international aid projects I do get around quite a bit! but I always find local woods very beautiful as well.
stay well! ;-)

This piece is going to be touched many times over the next 200 years. I get the feeling of the brass sculptures around europe that people touch for luck.. all oxidized except bright brass at the place people rub them. (there was a woman's torso in a back alley in Bremen whose boobs were shiny golden that I couldn't help myself but to make a wish) :)

Beautiful like allways! The lines of sculpture work so well the the contrast of waves in the wood. Love it .

Man this is so fantastic! Wood is so "of nature" and depicting the iconic female form that is deep in the male "racial memory" stirs up some deep emotions.

Really amazing piece.

Thanks, Markus! but ... nature helped a lot! It is perhaps the sculpture where the grain couldnīt match better and the uniform tint of the wood also.
stay well!! ;-) ;-)
